2011 Competition

"Three golds and one silver,". Yes, all members of JSSO will definitely tell you that when you ask, and yes, we got it!

The A Team of our school has managed to get gold with the legendary Eine Kleine Nachtmuzik from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which is known as A Little Night Music, together with Figaro gets Married, a twist from Marriage of Figaro, also from Mozart, to the traditional wedding march. The team is lead under the conducting of Miss Ooi Joo Phin, 17 years old, with two years of conducting experience.

The B team of our school has also managed to get our second gold with Pocahontas, together with the Louis Armstrong classic When The Saints Go Marching In. The team is lead by Miss Ng Jie Wei, 17 years old, with two years of conducting experience.

Our C team has too surprised us and gave us our third gold. Lead by the same conductor in our B team, Miss Ng Jie Wei, our C team has performed the famous Rolf Løvland song - You Raise Me Up, and from the animal comedy film Madagascar, Zoosters Breakout. Our C team has definitely perfected You Raise Me Up as it got the loudest applause.

Last, but not least, is our D team, lead under the wise hands of Miss Teh Yan Shin, with one year of conducting experience. Team D, with the Home Alone soundtrack "Somewhere in My Memory" and the song from Smokey Joe's Cafe "Love Potion Number 9", has managed to get a silver.

JSSO would like to thank every one of you who participated in this very competition held by the ProArt Philharmonic Society. Thank you for your time. Wish us luck in our competition next year!
